Brakes

Your brakes are a crucial component in keeping you, your passengers, and your fellow motorists safe. It is essential that your brakes are in proper working order at all times. Brakes wear out over time, requiring service. How long your brakes last is based on a variety of things such as driving conditions, how you brake, and other factors. For this reason, it is necessary to service your brakes regularly.

You might need brake service if:

  • You hear a grinding or squealing sound when you depress your brakes
  • Your brake fluid is low or dirty
  • The brake light comes on
  • You feel a pulse when you depress your brakes
  • Your vehicle pulls to one side when braking
  • The brake pedal sinks slowly to the floor when you step on it

Any time you notice these, or other symptoms, it’s a good idea to have your brakes checked. At Village Motors LTD, our qualified mechanics will test your brake performance, explain any service we might recommend and perform the maintenance necessary to ensure the reliability and safety of your vehicle’s braking system on the road.

Wheel Alignment

When your vehicle’s alignment is off, driving can become more difficult, and more expensive. It can have an impact on your gas mileage, and put stress on other areas of your vehicle.

You may need to check your alignment if:

  • There are uneven wear patterns on your tires
  • You’ve been in a major or minor collision
  • You have hit a curb or pot hole
  • Your car drifts to one direction on a straight road

Here at Village Motors LTD, our qualified mechanics can check your alignment and fix any issues. This will result in longer-lasting tires, better gas mileage and safer driving.

Computerized Engine Analysis

Modern engines use a network of sensors and switches to monitor engine operating conditions. You car’s control computer receives these signals and sends commands, to your fuel, ignition and emission control systems.

You may need an engine analysis if:

  • The engine light is on
  • The engine cranks, but will not start
  • You experience rough idling
  • Your engine knocks when accelerating

Here at Village Motors LTD, our qualified mechanics can perform a computerized engine analysis that will determine what the problem is. We will diagnose and explain any issues we find, and provide you with a quote for repair.

Cooling System Maintenance

Driving produces an enormous amount of heat – enough to cause serious damage to your engine. The cooling system absorbs this heat and transfers it to the outside air. There are few signs that your radiator requires maintenance until it actually fails, so it’s important to change and flush coolant according to your manufacturer’s directions.

In addition to regular maintenance, come see us at TNT Auto Service if:

  • You notice puddles of coolant on your garage floor
  • Your coolant levels seem low
  • Temperature gauge or light indicates attention required
  • Temperature gauge rises when idling or moving slowly

We’ll inspect your radiator system for leaks and keep your engine running smoothly.

Exhaust

Your vehicle’s exhaust system is particularly susceptible to damage and wear from the outside environment. It is exposed to stones, dirt, snow, salt, and other road hazards. A damaged or faulty exhaust system can reduce the operating efficiency of your engine and result in increased fuel consumption.

You may need exhaust maintenance if:

  • Your vehicle is running noisier than usual
  • You hear a “clunk” underneath your vehicle
  • When fuel consumption increases and/or a lack of performance is noted
  • When rust is visible on exhaust system parts
  • When rattles are evident from the exhaust system

Here at Village Motors LTD, our qualified technicians will inspect your exhaust system to ensure it is running properly, and that your muffler is functioning, in-tact and in place.

Maintenance Inspections

Frequent inspections can prevent costly future repairs. Following the manufacturer’s recommended inspection schedule, come see us at Village Motors LTD and we’ll check:

  • Tires
  • Lights
  • Fluid levels
  • Wipers
  • Belts
  • Batteries
  • Steering & suspension
  • Brake & exhaust systems

To keep your vehicle running at its best, contact us at Village Motors LTD, we will perform an inspection, explain any evidence of problems, and provide recommendations for repair.

Maintenance Tune-ups

An engine tune-up is an adjustment to the motor made to improve working order or efficiency. If the primary inspection finds no major faults, the tune-up includes replacing the following:

  • Spark plugs and ignition wires, or coil on plug boots (consider long-life plugs since they don't wear as much as standard plugs).
  • Distributor cap and rotor (older cars).
  • Fuel filter (if serviceable), air filter, PCV valve, and breather filter.
  • On older vehicles, (if required) check and adjust ignition timing.

Simple maintenance such as a tune-up makes an engine easier to start, improves fuel economy, lowers emissions, and restores its power and efficiency.

Oil Change

One of the simplest, most effective and inexpensive ways to help protect the life of your engine, is to change the oil and oil filter regularly. Regular oil changes keep the parts of your engine well lubricated and moving without friction or heat to keep your engine working efficiently.

Come see TNT Auto Service for an oil change if:

  • It’s been 5,000 kilometers (or six months) since your last change
  • Your owner’s manual specifies that it’s time
  • Our Professional Oil Change Service includes:
  • Replace the oil with up to five (5) litres of quality motor oil
  • Replace oil filter
  • Grease universal joints, steering and suspension components, where applicable
  • Check under the chassis for component integrity, leaks, CV boot issues, and wear of steering components. We will check and top-off fluids, including transmission, brake, coolant, power steering, and wiper fluids.
  • Visually inspect belts, wiper blades, and exterior lights
  • Check tire pressure and adjust as necessary
Radiator

Your engine reaches very high temperatures through every-day operation, and it’s the cooling system that absorbs heat and transfers it to outside air.

We’ll inspect your radiator system for leaks and keep your engine running smoothly.

Shocks and Struts

Without shocks, you would be in for one bumpy ride. Shocks soften your drive, but they wear out over time. Replacing worn out parts can give you better handling, control and performance.

You may need to get your shocks checked if:

  • Your car leans excessively on turns
  • Your vehicle dips from side to side following aggressive turns
  • You notice irregular tire wear

As your vehicle suspension wears out gradually, you may not notice any problems until the system fails. It's important to have your suspension system checked periodically to ensure your driving comfort and safety.

Tire Rotation

Rotating your tires ensures even wear and tear. Rotating them frequently results in better overall performance and longer tire life.

You may need to rotate your tires if:

  • You’ve driven 10,000 kilometers since your last rotation
  • You experience poor handling and braking in wet conditions
  • You notice excessive wear on front tires

Village Motors LTD mechanics will inspect your tires and rotate them accordingly, ensuring optimal performance for the life of your tire.

Transmission Maintenance

Shifting problems, noises, vibrations, something grinding your gears? We will service and diagnose your problems.

The transmission may well be one of the most complicated and important components of your car or truck. Transmission problems can be caused by a variety of factors including low fluid levels, poor fluid consistency, or by debris in the system. Routine transmission maintenance can prolong the life of your transmission by reducing friction, heat and contaminants. This helps prevent costly future repairs.

Your car will often give you warning signs that signal your transmission needs to be serviced. These can include:

  • Delay or refusal to shift into gear
  • Burning odor
  • Grinding or shaking when shifting into gear
  • Whining or clunking noises
  • Fluid leakage under vehicle
  • Check Engine light on

Our qualified mechanics at Village Motors LTD have the training and expertise to properly perform a routine transmission service and get you back on the road with confidence.

Wheel Balance

Unbalanced wheels can result in your vehicle handling poorly, pulling to one direction, or vibrating unnecessarily. It makes your steering less controlled and stable.

You might need a wheel re-balance if:

  • You’ve driven 10,000 kilometers since your last wheel balancing
  • You purchased new tires

Come in to Village Motors LTD for a wheel balance, and you’ll enjoy the improved handling, increased fuel efficiency, longer tire life, and a safer, more comfortable ride.

Air Conditioning

If you’ve sat in your vehicle on a hot Saskatchewan day without it, you know just how important a functioning A/C system is. Without regular maintenance, contamination and leaks can affect your system’s overall performance – refrigerant may leak through worn seals or loose fittings. This means your car won’t stay as comfortable and cool.

Your air conditioning system may need maintenance if:

  • Your A/C vents are blowing warm air
  • The system makes an unusual noise
  • Your car doesn’t completely cool

At Village Motors LTD, our qualified mechanics will check your air conditioning system. We can identify and fix the problem, and have you on your way – as cool and refreshed as ever.

Batteries

Ideally, it’s best to buy a new battery before the old one fails – because if it dies and leaves you stranded somewhere, you probably won’t have the time to make an informed decision.

You might need a new battery if:

  • Your battery is over 4 years old
  • The battery light comes on
  • Your car is difficult to start
  • The battery won’t hold a charge
  • There is corrosion on the battery post
  • The case is swollen or the posts are loose

If you think you need a new battery, contact us at Village Motors LTD. We’ll test your current battery, and if necessary, help you pick the right battery for Saskatchewan’s climate and your specific vehicle.
